Welcome to this TLC podcast, in which the team discuss the challenges and life saving benefits of developing transplant services around the world. They particularly focus on the severity of renal failure in Sub Saharan Africa and the outlook for patients with renal failure, the financial burden of dialysis, the relative cost of a transplant programme, the ethics involved in establishing a transplant programme, cultural barriers that might slow the progress of a transplant programme, the need for a sustained and coordinated approach, the need for governmental support and the need for a multi disciplinary team.
